Yesterday was a big day in the Wright household. Can you believe that our little girl arrived a year ago? Neither can we. Crazy how time flies.
Well, whether we can believe it or not, E is now one year old. She’s gone from a content, sleeping baby (thank goodness, after C) to a mostly content, still-pretty-good-sleeper, always-on-the-go pre-toddler with a voracious appetite who loves to antagonize her brother.
In addition to a birthday, yesterday was C’s first day of preschool! He said he made lots of new friends and they played the whole time. I’m glad, because someday soon, play will mostly be a distant memory…
It’ll be good for him to get out of the house a couple days a week, and interact with a bunch of kids his own age. And good for S to get a small respite from the nonstop whirlwind. As usual, bittersweet because it wasn’t that long ago that he was our baby boy, and now that he’s started school, that’s pretty much going to be his life for the next 20 years. You wish they could stay young and precious and innocent forever, but you also want them to grow up and learn and explore and develop into their own people.
Sigh. Whoever said that parenting was easy?
Oh, that’s right… nobody.
Birthdays! School! Fun things all around!
I didn’t even take a picture of my older son’s first day of preschool. Fail. It didn’t feel like REAL school, what with the fact that I was driving him literally a mile away and leaving him for only a few hours. Maybe when he gets on a school bus for the first time, I might be motivated enough to take a picture.
Obviously, someone else should be in charge of cataloging memories around here. Sorry, kids.
Yeah, kindergarten will be a bigger deal (he’s also only a few miles away, for a few hours at a time, a couple days a week), but we seem to take pictures of just about everything 🙂
