I also tried a new beet this year, again for some variety. Although, with beets, there’s not a whole lot different from one to the next, at least in my limited experience. Early Wonder is a good producer, with good-sized roots. They stayed relatively tender, even with increased size, and have the same earthy… beet flavor as other beets I’ve tried. It’s not as pretty as the Chiogga, which I did grow again this year, but they’re bigger, which earns them a spot at the table.
Beets are way underappreciated – if you’ve never grown them, give them a shot sometime.
